Taj Mahal
Photo sessions with Taj in the background, the Agra Fort
Today we woke up at about 6 am, we wanted to see Taj Mahal at sunrise. Yesterday we agreed with a rickshaw-driver to come to fetch us. Today I put on the sari which I bought in Jaipur (a rajastan-style sari the end of which you put through the right shoulder). In the morning I was a little cold ... we waited and waited and nobody came. So we returned to the hotel, ate breakfast and ordered another rickshaw. We reached Taj after sunrise, but still pretty early to watch his excellent figure slowly emerging from the morning mists.
Everyone admired my sari...:))) we did a whole series of photos of all the famous benches in front of Taj. I especially wanted to have the photo while sitting on this bench just in front of Taj, which so often appears in the Bollywood movies. At this time there wasn't even a lot of people, so you can feel really royally and calmly walk through the enormous gardens and the entire premise. Jamuna was still covered by a sleepy fog from which gently emerged silhouettes of boats, some people and lots of birds.
Some Chinese asked me to let them do photos with me... :)
After visiting Taj we went to see the Fort in Agra. The huge spaces in the palace and gardens are bit overwhelming. A function of an empty museum, which it fulfills now, makes it difficult to get to know it really. The beautifully decorated walls are silent, they ceased to praise the richness and the dignity of their rulers. They are but only witnesses of a bygone era. Walking through the cloisters and courtyards of the palace, one have this strange, unreal feeling. Former use and importance of these buildings have long since been forgotten today. They are only abstract constructions, such as the black throne of Jahangir, or openwork porticos in the courtyards and terraces.
Tired of sightseeing we started to fool around a little and we made a few photo sessions. We found also some tourists who again wanted to have pictures with me. I began to think that maybe people want to make fun of me, or that maybe my sari is very badly tied up. Later it turned out that maybe I should put pallu better, but beside this all was OK with my sari. We met also a Polish couple, who live permanently in China. It was very nice to talk with them. They praised China very much, my next great journey will lead me there... but Philippines are also waiting for me... and I have to visit also my dear Punjab and I would like to get to know Rajastan in more detail ...
