Bhimbetka Caves, and temple in Bhojpur, boating on the lake
Around Bhopal, there are many places worth seeing. Among them are relics of every historical period. Bhimbetka caves contain prehistoric paintings, while on the way to them, one will notice a massive block of a medieval Hindu temple in Bhojpur. The temple was built in honor of Siva and inside there is the largest Siva Linga in India, made of one stone. The vault and the portal are decorated with mysterious-looking sculptures (largely thanks to the gradual decomposition). In front of the temple, the puja is celebrated.
Going further and further, one notices a distinct change in the landscape. It gradually becomes more and more rocky. Massive boulders grow from picturesque red soil. Finally we reached the giant, almost fairy-tale rocks, which proved to be the object of our trip. Here wandering between fantasy structures carved by water, we met our guide, who pointed our eyes to the barely rock paintings. I wonder if they are really genuine, or maybe they are „enhanced” for the tourists, anyway the amazing rocks are even more impressive than the paintings.
In the evening we went for a walk by the lake, where we were tempted by Indians who were screaming "boating, boating" in our direction. Boating proved to be a great way to admire the sunset. A thin boatman took us to the island in the middle of the lake, where there is a Muslim tomb, and the seat of the lake's birds.
After a ride on the lake we went to a famous cafe, where usually couples in love meet. Before us stretched a magnificent view of the lake, which reflected the lights of lanterns and roadside houses.
