First Day in Varanasi
First night and the search for a new hotel, my illness and healing:)
After almost no sleep at night I wanted to find a new hotel. I felt that I would not like to eat in the hotel restaurant, so we went to look for another place. I found a hotel, Pallavi International, which at the pictures online looked promising. We went there for a breakfast. I was somewhat surprised that I was served the Indian tea in a tea-kettle and not just in a small cup. In any event, we satisfied our hanger and I felt a little better, not for long, as it turned out later. Then we checked out the rooms in the hotel, a little too ordinary for their price, so before a final decision we decided to see other hotels.
We went to the Clarks, there it turned out, however, that the rooms are beyond our means. While leaving this luxurious hotel we wanted to take a rickshaw, and suddenly we were surrounded with rickshaw and taxi drivers, who were shouting their offers one over the other, pushing more and more towards me. In the end we managed to negotiate a reasonable price and we left finally that snobbish "rich" hotel district.
On the way back I saw Hotel Pradeep. To anyone who goes to Varanasi, I would suggest to stay at this hotel. I was just to book the room there, when it turned out that they do not have one free for 3 nights in a raw. The standard of this hotel is like the Hotel Ajanta in which we stayed in Delhi, or the Hotel Ranjit's Lakeview in Bhopal. Clean and comfortable rooms with a window, TV, and bathroom ( more expensive rooms have even a decent wading pool under the shower). There is also a lift in the hotel and a nice service.
Disappointed with the thought that we would not be able to change the hotel, we told the driver to take us to our hotel. The rickshaw driver did not know exactly where it was and left us somewhere on the main street. We wandered a little and in the end we reached our hotel, where we have been given the promised, better room. I was angry with them and ordered them to change again the sheets and to give us new towels.
Tired I lay down. Even since earlier I had a stomachache. This uncomfortable feeling increased much in the afternoon, so that my mom had to call a doctor. This time we asked the hotel to arrange someone to come, so as to make it faster.
The doctor came to visit me after one hour or so. When he saw me, he was surprised how pale I was. He examined me and called a nurse to come too. While we were waiting for the nurse to come, he tried to make me smile with small jokes. He gossiped a little and inquired about Poland.
The nurse gave me two injections! I immediately felt better, because one injection was to strengthen me. I also got a ton of drugs, which I had to eat starting the next day.
My disease interfered with our plans a bit, because the next day I had no strength nor desire for a typical tourist sightseeing.
